Cllr Grey "Fair and democratic non predetermined course of action"

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

How can residents voices be heard when Chris Packham is reaching out to his 500,000+ followers globally to ask them complete the consultation questionnaire???

WBC know they want to stop all beach management. Tax payers are following their consultation rules and guidelines yet WBC keep changing the goal post. There is no desire from WBC to hear our voices, they are tactically drowning us out with social media giants. Yes respondents may have to enter a postcode to be able to complete the questionnaire, so its suggests WBC can sort results by postcode area BUT we all know how easy it is to find one (Google).

The outcome following this diabolical consultation to find out what residents / tax payers really want are massively skewed and are already irrelevant!

Let's remind ourselves what Cllr Grey, Chair of the Environment Committee, member of the Facebook group The Evidence (cough, cough) and strong advocate of a beach green in Hoylake, said back in 2021. (See first video).

"All Wirral residents should have a say in what happens to the beach".

She states in this video 'equality issues', however there are masses of inequality demonstrated in this consultation process.

1. The Consultation questionnaire has been designed to be completed online only.

Only by members of HBC repeatedly phoning the council have they made non-online versions available. (Which ridiculously can only be collected* from Hoylake library which is open one day a week and half day every other Saturday).

2. The consultation has not been promoted widely enough. People locally do not know it is currently taking place. They did a small piece in The Globe, however most people in Hoylake don't receive this newspaper. Residents should have been mailed directly.

3. They've pulled out the big guns Chris Packham to ask his half a million followers on Facebook to complete the questionnaire - these people DO NOT understand or are they fully aware of all of the issues surrounding the beach debate only Packhams rhetoric. One sided and blinkered.

Hoylakes population is less than 2% of his followers - HOW CAN THIS BE EQUAL?

The second video is of Cllr Grey promising its not a done deal. She states repeatedly this fact... I find it funny how then the consultation process has been delayed by 6 months.... her uhem, uhem 'protesting too much' - became a self fulfilling prophecy.

:: Note the study on the beach was also months late at being delivered. Quelle surpise!

Both videos from 16th March 2021.

: Hoylake Beach Community, is a voluntary group who since the formation in October 2021, have been asking WBC for a compromise that will suit all. Hoylake Beach Community are not affiliated with any other group. HBC only use two forms of online communication. This website and a Facebook group which anyone is welcome to request to join. Search Hoylake Beach Community. HBC do not use any other social media.

We are not asking for the whole beach, just the section from Kings Gap to the RNLI station, with the rest being left to the grasses.
