Hoylake Beach: Past and present photos

WARNING: it'll make you sad to see the state of Hoylake beach compared to how beautiful it was just a few years ago.

All because Cllr Grey is using it as a political football. (See her party political broadcast HERE).

The promised mythical sand dunes haven't appeared, but what has is a mess, the start of a salt marsh, like seen at Parkgate, that our fellow residents avoid because they can't bear to see it this way.

The beautiful golden sands, that generations of local families have used for leisure and pleasure - gone! No prior consultation from the Wirral Borough Council - just stolen, right from under our feet.

The recent consultation, that must have cost WBC thousands to run, resulted with the majority of the people wanting their sandy beach back - and yet Cllr Grey digs her heels (into the swamp) and refuses to listen to the local residents.

Grey doesn't care about the local economy, tourism or the health and wellbeing of our beautiful town: she's intent on turning it into a ghost town - and one with mosquitoes!

:: Hoylake Beach Community, is a voluntary group who have been asking WBC for a compromise that will suit all. Our hope is for a section* of the beach to be restored to sand so that residents from across Wirral and beyond can utilise it for recreation and health and well-being purposes.

We are asking for a common sense approach for ALL; wildlife, nature & people. The half mile stretch* of amenity beach we would like equates to less than 1% compared to the Wirral shoreline conservation area. There really has to be a balance of human and environmental needs.

Hoylake Beach Community are not affiliated with any other group and have never entered into politics or stood for local elections. HBC only use two forms of online communication. This website and a Facebook group which anyone is welcome to request to join. Search Hoylake Beach Community. HBC do not use any other social media.

*We are not asking for the whole beach, our compromise is for the section that runs alongside North Parade from Kings Gap to the RNLI station, with the rest being left to the grasses. We do not support chemicals, only raking.
